An aging gentlemen sits before a television screen in his sun-filled bedroom. It is early morning and he is not yet dressed. He is watching the 1937 Jean Renoir French war film "La Grande Illusion (Grand Illusions)." As a veteran himself, he is intrigued by the war prison attempt and is pictured reading the line ,"But it is the castle's only flower," a reference to the social class differences that existed in Europe and dominated social relationships, even in prison. - M.
